FEATURE FILM AND FICTION/NON-FICTION BOOK WRITING

Vicki is a published author, editor and ghostwriter, as well as being a credited and award-winning screenwriter. She loves writing and the power it has to move and affect people in so many uplifting ways. She has helped several high-profile people bring their published works to the world. She worked closely with celebrity psychic, Amanda De Warren (Woman’s Day’s Animal Whisperer) when she edited her autobiography, Amanda De Warren: My Journey Behind Blue Eyes, and also edited the novel, The Solid Rock by Graham Perrett (the final in a trilogy by the Federal Labor MP for Moreton). 


Vicki published her early readers’ children’s book in late 2014 – When Lollipop Ladies Attack! – which received glowing reviews for its humour and road safety message. She’s also a freelance journalist, film reviewer, and was the daily TV reviewer for The Courier Mail for 11 years. She’s now the Senior Arts Writer for the website, www.mustdobrisbane.com


For TV, Vicki has written for popular soapie, Home and Away, children’s series The Fo-Fo Figgily Show, Magical Tales, Totally Wild, Puzzle Play and In the Box, and adventure-documentary series, All 4 Adventure. She has recently been commissioned to write episodes for Jonathan Shiff’s (Mako Mermaids, H2O: Just Add Water) new children’s series, The Bureau of Magical Things and to contribute to plotting sessions.


In 2017 Vicki and co-creator, Charlie Strachan, have had their psychological thriller TV series, Oleander, funded for early stage concept development by Screen Queensland, with producers Mark Overett (New Holland Pictures 2) and Elle Croxford (iSEEC). They also worked on early stage development of their primetime TV series, Checking In, with Matchbox Pictures, with funding from Screen Queensland. 


Vicki has written two family films funded for development by Screen Queensland. Pollyanna’s Wish (producer – Steve Durbin, Forest Grove Productions), and has both Australian and U.S. distributors, and U.S. executive producers including Oscar winner Travis Mann (Capote). Nadia Tass is slated to direct the film in late 2017. Flynn The Invincible has Lance Reynolds of Noosa Films as Producer (Paperback Hero, Postcard Bandit). Vicki is also Co-creator, Writer and Co-Producer for documentary series, Psychic Roadtrip, optioned by Flick Chicks (Snake Boss), which is in development.


Vicki’s feature film script, Painted Love Letters, (adapted from the Young Adult novel by Catherine Bateson) received Special Mention in the Chauvel Award and funding from Screen Queensland after previously being funded by Screen Australia. The project is optioned by Meredith Garlick (Thomas Street Productions). Another feature film script, My Romantic Comedy, won First Prize in the Romantic Comedy screenplay category at the WorldFest Independent Film Festival in the U.S. and the John Dean Award for Creative Writing (across all categories - over 500 scripts). It was optioned by Tony Ayres of Matchbox Pictures and developed as a TV comedy series.


Vicki has twice been nominated for the AWGIE Monte Miller Award and has had two feature film projects optioned and developed through Screen Australia. She also wrote the award-winning short film, The White Nightie, and has had her own children’s TV fantasy drama series, Clementine Parkes, in development with Stewart and Wall Ent (K9).
